Our Programs

about The Programs

Two distinct addiction recovery programs are tailored for women, offering a gender-specific, trauma-informed approach. The Northstar Recovery program serves as a foundation for residents to rediscover their true selves post-addiction trauma.

Program Overview

Northstar Recovery offers two distinct program offerings. The offerings listed below are standard at both programs. Please scroll down for the additional program offerings that are available at Clarendon House

Cultural Considerations

The Northstar program incorporates spiritual teachings, workshops, and components of traditional Indigenous culture, envisioned and overseen by elders and knowledge keepers from local First Nations communities.

Case Management

A personal case manager coordinates with clients at each of our locations to ensure they are being heard and their special requests and appointments are coordinated.

Case Manager provide general support and advocate for clients' needs. They also connect with the families to provide updates on the clients' journeys.

Introspective Writing

Introspective writing, which involves personal reflection and self-examination through writing, can play a crucial role in addiction treatment for several reasons. It serves as a therapeutic tool that helps individuals understand and manage their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours associated with addiction.

Education

Each week at Northstar Clarendon House, participants delve into key topics, from the science behind addiction to practical coping mechanisms and relapse prevention. Led by experts and drawing on real-life experiences, the series provides valuable insights and strategies for overcoming addiction.

Each week at The Castle, workshops and personal reflection exercises help individuals develop a deeper understanding and a tailored approach to recovery, all within a supportive community environment.

Mindfulness

Practiced through meditation, breathing exercises, and mindful observation, it enhances emotional regulation, reduces stress, and improves decision-making. By cultivating a mindful presence, individuals learn to recognize and detach from triggers, paving the way for more effective coping strategies and a deeper, more sustainable recovery from addiction.

Programming

We have two distinct programs, each crafted with a structured set of therapies, activities, and educational sessions designed to support individuals in their recovery from substance use disorders.

Each program is tailored to meet each person's unique needs, incorporating various therapeutic approaches that include individual counselling, group therapy, educational workshops on addiction and recovery, skill-building sessions for coping with cravings and triggers, and activities that promote physical well-being, mental health, and social skills.

Therapeutic Support

Our therapeutic support programs integrate evidence-based therapies, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness practices tailored to individual needs.

Supportive group sessions encourage community building and shared learning, while individual counselling offers personalized guidance. Additional approaches at each location complement traditional treatments, ensuring a well-rounded recovery journey.

Aftercare Support

Tailored to address each individual's unique recovery journey, it emphasizes relapse prevention strategies, emotional regulation, and building a supportive community network. Regular check-ins and access to resources ensure ongoing support. This comprehensive, holistic approach fosters long-term sobriety, personal growth, and well-being, creating a solid foundation for life after treatment.
